As you’ll know if you listened to the first episode of our podcast, Thomas Clipper has a peculiar take on facial hair. In that we’re not scared of it....
Of course we sell razors, and of course we see beards everywhere. From bankers to baristas, facial hair doesn’t get in the way of professionalism in the same way that it did a few years ago.
And that’s brilliant for Thomas Clipper. At the end of the day, we’re in the business of better design, and creating a more relaxed, enjoyable way to clean shave. A chance to slow down.
We think this is a sea change. When we talk to our customers they have less of a ‘I have to shave for work’ attitude, and more of a ‘I want to shave because it relaxes me, and it feels fantastic’ mindset.
Without the rise of the respectable beard we would still be in the paradigm of necessity – you’ve got to shave, so you might as well get it over with.
But thanks to the ubiquity of workplace stubble us chaps are increasingly shaving because we want to, not because we have to. And that’s a good reason to get it right.
So three cheers for stubble: and when you want to shave it off, three cheers for a single blade razor that can dispatch a week’s growth without a second thought.
